Requirements for production

Types of Production and Distribution:  Production: The production we were making was a 'DepicT!' short film, a 90 second clip with a "focus on discovering international film making talent through originality, imagination and the ability to engage in just a minute and a half," as stated on the DepicT! website . DepicT! is a good platform to distribute and show the world your talent, and any short-listed films have a chance to be shown at film festivals and win awards at the DepicT! showcase. However a short-film is just one type of production, as there is a whole range of moving image media out there. The most prominent is an advert, which gets shown on a range of TV channels in between shows; at the movies before a film starts; online streaming and video-sharing sites and occasionally is a paid sponsor in another piece of media. Other notable moving image productions are TV shows and  feature length films, which are released in the thousands every year, following

DepicT! Reseach

Cool Unicorn bruv https://www.depict.org/2013/cool-unicorn-bruv/?category_request=picks I like this DepicT! short for its humour. it's made clear that its meant to be a comedy and it uses few and simple camera angles to make sure dialogue and visuals are the most important aspect and not fast moving actions that would call for quick and complex shots. The narrative is kept simple and direct as to not confuse audiences but allow them to fully understand what's happening, and the sound quality and editing are great. Alex Jones is (Technically) a Human https://www.depict.org/2019/alex-jones-is-technically-a-human/?category_request=2019 This animation of Alex Jones, host of InfoWars, is an artistic and comedic animation loaded with vivid and bright imagery that appeals to the senses. As far as a narrative goes, it's just Alex jones telling the world he is a leader that spreads liberty using patriotic phrases like,"I've got the fire of

Evaluation of continuity sequence

Image
Continuity: throughout the short film the continuity doesn't seem to be broken. the 180 degree rule manages to be followed by keeping the birthday boy on the left of the screen from the establishing shot all the way to the end, and any POV shots match up with eyelines and camera positions. the one counter-shot over the birthday boys shoulder signifies an important change is coming in the film. Fades or Dissolves: All fades and dissolves in the video are representative of where they're placed and not just thrown in on top. for instance, the film opens on a blinding white fade in from the title card to the establishing shot, while the film fades from black into the credits from the final shot of the birthday boy on the floor. cross fades are used to show time passing and character changes in the gift giving. Shot Distancing and angles: Throughout the film different shot distances are used for effect, including a dolly shot moving towards a character acting as a punch

Connotations through still images

Image
This image represents strength. this effect is shown by the use of a medium shot to make the subject look tall by taking advantage of the fact we can't see how high off the floor they are. the subjects strength is also shown by all the books around them, giving the connotation that 'knowledge is power'. there is lighting all around the subject making it seem like they give off a natural radiance of power.  This image represents fear itself, shown by the lack of light all around except for the up lighting shining underneath a mysterious figure, the subject of our picture. This image preys on the human condition giving us a natural fear of the unknown. 'who or what is lurking in the shadows?' we ask ourselves, conflicting our own minds with a mix of bad and good thoughts, not knowing which to believe. the image is also a close-up, giving us not much to go on in figuring out whether or not the subject is big, menacing or dangerous... or maybe even friendly, per
